Have you attended college before? If so, you may be able to transfer credits earned at other regionally accredited colleges or universities. The College also offers a variety of other ways to earn credit - all designed around the needs of adult learners, like you.

  • Introduction to Computer Science
B. Theory and Concepts (required) 9

Select three of the following:

  • Assembly Language Programming (3)
  • Compiler Construction (3)
  • Data Structures (3)
  • Numerical Analysis (3); or Discrete Math 3)

OR

  • Linear Algebra (3)
  • Switching Theory and Automation (3)
C. Computer Science Electives 9
  • Abstract Algebra
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Computer Simulation
  • Combinatorial Compiling
  • Comparative Programming Languages
  • Computer Architecture
  • Computer Graphics (Required to be taught from a Computer Science department)
  • Computer Organization
  • Computer Statistical Techniques
  • Problem Analysis & Solution
  • Programming Languages (maximum of 2 courses/exams or credits)
  • Scientific Programming
  • Switching Theory Automata
  • Unix

Up to Two Courses/6 Credits in the following types of Data Processing-Oriented Courses may be used:

  • Database Management
  • Information Storage and Retrieval
  • Microcomputers
  • Systems Analysis and Design
  • Systems Programming
D. Corollary Requirements (in addition to 21 credits from Section II)
  • Calculus I & II (one year; six credits)
III. Free Electives 9
Total: 60 Credits


Note 1: Courses listed in Section II C are a guide. Other courses may be appropriate. Students should check with an Advisor to determine whether alternative courses are appropriate.

Note 2: Matrix Algebra is recommended.

Note 3: Most courses in data processing are not considered to be in the liberal arts Computer Science category. Students should check with an Advisor to determine if course can be approved as liberal arts Computer Science before registering for course.
