FlashTrack Courses

Attend an Information Session
Information Sessions are held throughout the year and provide prospective students with the opportunity to meet College staff and learn more about the admissions process, financial aid, enrolling and what it is like taking an online course.

FlashTrack courses are one of the many ways to complete courses and earn your degree at Thomas Edison State College using methods designed specifically for the adult learner.

What is a FlashTrack Course?
Have you ever wanted to work on your online course, but did not have access to an Internet connection?  Have you ever been on a long commute and wanted to use that downtime to finish an assignment for your course?  Do you ever worry about losing your school work by working on both your home and work computers?  If you can relate to any of these scenarios, FlashTrack courses may be a good option for you.

FlashTrack courses are delivered to students on a single 2 gigabyte (GB) flash drive – a device smaller than a pack of gum – and contain the same structure and functionality of typical online Thomas Edison State College courses. Students can use FlashTrack courses on any computer that has a USB port and the flash drives can be used on as many computers as needed.  Work can also be saved to the flash drives, making them portable and enabling students to use them from one computer to the next.

FlashTrack courses come to students with everything except the textbook preloaded to complete the course, including all course materials as well as the software necessary for word processing and spreadsheets, media players, PDF and photo-viewing programs, and e-mail and Web utilities for students with access to the Internet.

Getting Started with FlashTrack
When students register for a FlashTrack course, they will receive the flash drive of the course in the mail. It is ready to go right out of the box. Students plug the flash drive into their computer. The computer will begin to recognize it as a drive. The process takes a few moments. Older computers may take longer to recognize the drive than newer units. Once the computer has recognized the flash drive, students will notice the desktop background will change. The new desktop background will remain on the screen as long as the flash drive is plugged in.  Students will notice an arrow icon on the screen. This icon opens the menu.  Once students click on the arrow icon and open the menu, they have reached the starting point of the FlashTrack course and can access all of the features and programs that FlashTrack offers.
