Frequently Asked Questions

The majority of the University’s graduate and doctoral-level programs have already transitioned from 12- to 8-week term formats. This change was in response to student feedback and is aligned with the institution’s student success initiatives.

In keeping with this goal, the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions is transitioning all graduate and doctoral nursing degree and certificate programs to 8-week course formats. This includes the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and the Master of Science (MS) in Nurse Educator, MS in Nursing Informatics, MS in Nursing Administration programs and related graduate certificates.

Following the structure of its other graduate-level programs, the Heavin School of Arts, Sciences, and Technology is transitioning its 12-week Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity program to 8-week term formats.

We understand that as dedicated professionals, you balance multiple responsibilities, including career, family and community engagement. The new course formats are a more optimal fit with those commitments and will allow you to complete your graduate program requirements in a shorter timeframe, promoting a more immersive learning experience and facilitating more frequent interactions with fellow students and your course mentors. What’s more, the new course formats will reduce your time to graduation by offering six terms a year instead of four and enable you to advance in your profession faster.
